LIFE LESSONS

Situation: Staying alive, a place to sleep, something to eat, landing on your feet.
Learning how to be a citizen. Collecting friends not enemies.
The problem is if you can't go back, the world gets to be a really small place.
  1. Why you don't steal?
Logic: You want something-- The purpose is to acquire "things".
You know you can "get away" with stealing it without getting caught,
but people will notice, that when ever your around, "things" come up missing later,
maybe lots later, it leaves an "ill will" that follows you.
Pretty soon your just not welcome. Communities will eject thieves.
!------You got away, but you can't come back.------!
The brotherhood of thieves-- Soon your only friends are other thieves.
The problem is they will steal from you too, which means you can acquire "things",
    but you can't keep them.
Note: Theives have a tendency to be paranoid,"someone might catch them.
They expect everyone to steal from them."
Logical conclusion: Stealing is not a valid method of having "things".
Note: When a waitress leaves her tip laying in front of you! Its a trap.
It takes will power to resist the temptation to steal.
That "ill will" is the expectation that you will steal,
    which creates the temptation situation.
Overcoming temptation is "Good" exercise for your will power.

  2. Why you don't lie?
The reason for lying is you didn't live up to someone else's expectation.
So you lie, and cover up the lie with another one etc.
The problem was who said you had to live up to someone else's expectation.
Its better to just say the truth. You've gained the reputation for honesty.
Which is better than whatever the momentary expectation happened to be.
When there is a face off between a lier and an honest reputation.
The honest reputation will always win.
It takes will power to resist the temptation to lie.
Overcoming temptation is "Good" exercise for your will power.
Will is a real power, the lack of it is why thieves and liers become losers.
  3. Why you make your bed? Its not so your mother won't yell at you.
Its to keep the spiders from making a nest in your bed and biting you.
  4. Why do you wash your dishes?-- to keep from getting tomaine poisoning.
  5. Why do you wash your clothes, and take baths? To keep your skin from rotting off.
Road rules: Take a bath everyday, oil your skin with olive oil.
The oil protects from parasites, scabies, lice, etc.
In medieval times, oily woodsmoke accomplished the same purpose.
Change your socks and underwear everyday. Keep your fingernails clean and clipped.
It improves your sex life. Think about it.
  6. Its a good routine, in the morning as you leave each room you go through,
scan it, adjust as necessary, to a set par of neatness.
It should be ready to bring home friends anytime.
Or leave indefinitely an come back to a "ready to use" situation.
You can instantly tell if someone else has been there also!
  7. Roll your clothes military style.
You should be able to pack and be gone within 5 minutes at any time.
  8. Travel light-- one set of outer clothes on, one set ready to wear, 3rd set laundry to wash.
  9. Hippie washing machine--stomp on soapy clothes while taking shower.
So why didn't I just quote the "Ten commandments" and be religious?

  10. Try your best to carry your own weight.

For the poor and politicians alike:
I quote Thomas Paine

"Public money ought to be touched with the most scrupulous consciousness of honor.
It is not the produce of riches only, but of the hard earnings of labor and poverty.
It is drawn even from the bitterness of want and misery.
Not a beggar passes, or perishes in the streets, whose mite is not in that mass."

Is this where you want your tax dollars to go? Where the money is going!

QUESTION AUTHORITY----READ THOMAS PAINE----

Did you ever notice the government acts paranoid!

by James W. Harris:
Federal Government Loses $25 billion “Oops! Sorry, we misplaced $25 billion of your dollars.”
So says the federal government. (Well, except for the “sorry” part.) As federal budget expert Brian Riedl of the conservative Heritage Foundation reports:

“[T]he federal government cannot account for $25 billion it spent in 2003. That's billion with a "b." Federal auditors know that $25 billion was spent by someone, somewhere, on something, but don't know who spent it, where it was spent or on what it was spent. ***That amount is more than the total federal taxes paid by all of the residents in each of 28 states.*** It's enough to fund the entire Department of Justice budget.”

Riedl also notes that mention of the loss is “buried in the Department of the Treasury’s 2003 Financial Report of the United States Government [in] a short section titled “Unreconciled Transactions Affecting the Change in Net Position.”
